Customer Privacy Policy

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.  What this means for you:  When you open an account, we will ask for your name, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you.  We will also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.

At The Upstate National Bank, our mission is to meet the desires of our customer. As financial services professionals entrusted with sensitive financial information, we respect the privacy of our customers and are committed to treating customer information responsibly. Our Customer Privacy Policy serves as a standard for all employees of The Upstate National Bank for collection, use, retention, and security of individual customer information.

We recognize your right to privacy at The Upstate National Bank; we recognize that you have a right to expect your personal financial information to remain private and secure. We will maintain standards to ensure that your information is private and secure at all times.

We collect and use the following nonpublic information about you only where we reasonably believe that it will help administer our business or provide products, services, and other opportunities to you:

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms.  Examples include your name, address, social security number, assets, income and debt;
  • Information about your transactions with us and account experience, as well as information about communications with you.  Examples include your account balance, payment history, party to transactions, and requests that you make for research and/or copies and our responses to you.
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency.  Examples include your credit worthiness and credit history.

We use information to protect and administer your records, account and funds; to comply with certain laws and requlations; to help us design or improve our products and services; and to understand your financial needs so that we provide you with quality products and superior service.

We may share all the information we collect, as described above, with companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or with other financial institutions with which we have joint marketing agreements.  This allows us to offer a variety of financial products and services we endorse and believe you may find beneficial.  The companies we do business with agree to keep such information confidential and are prohibited from disclosing such information to anyone for any other purpose.  We do not, and will not, share your information with non-financial companies for the purpose of allowing them to market their products and services to you.

We continually strive to maintain complete and accurate information about your accounts. Should you ever believe that our records contain inaccurate or incomplete information about you, please notify us immediately. We will investigate your concerns and correct any inaccuracies.

At The Upstate National Bank, employee access to personally identifiable customer information is limited to those with a business reason to know such information. Employees are educated on the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of customer information and the requirements of our Customer Privacy Policy. Because of the importance of these issues, all employees of The Upstate National Bank are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of customer information.  Employees who violate the Bank's Customer Privacy Policy will be subject to disciplinary measures.

The Upstate National Bank is committed to the security of your financial and personal information.  All of our operational and data processing systems are in a secure environment that protects your account information from being accessed by third parties.  We maintain and grant access to customer information only in accordance with our internal security standards.

The Upstate National Bank will never contact you by phone, e-mail, or other means and ask that you disclose to us any personal confidential information about you.  Personal confidential information includes, but is not limited to social security number, internet passwords, driver's license number, credit/debit card account number, etc.  If you receive such a request from someone claiming he/she is acting on behalf of The Upstate National Bank, you should not honor the request.  In addition, please report the attempt to obtain personal confidential information from you by contacting The Bank's Security Officer at 1-800-219-6109.
